This is my blog. I speak for no one but myself here. The words I write, the images I post, and the articles I link to interest no one but me. I stand by what I put here, however, it is not a reflection of time, effort, or particular care. I just want a clearinghouse of what does interest me and a space to spout out poorly written and thoughtout rants. Consider this a disclaimer.

Amazing.
"Which is why the Log Cabin Republicans, the saddest group in the world, are now basically just Democrats. Which has enraged a splinter group of conservative gay Republicans who are forming their own sad 527 non-profit that will be completely ignored by the party that depends solely on support from white evangelicals."

A Message From James Carville
James, I like you man, I really do and I love the former President and the Secretary of State.
That being said, they are worth $34.9 million.
Pimping yourself and the Former President for this cash seems a bit...obscene...especially as we are in a wonderful economic Depression right now.
Are there better ways to do this? Yes, I believe there are.
Hmmm...maybe...they can sell some real estate? Or would that be...wrong of me to ask?
The Accidental Gov Does Something Right
"Gov. Paterson urges gay nuptials Senate vote on a gay marriage bill, even if there aren't enough votes to pass it."
Thanks, FAU
Also from the article...
"Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith, a Queens Democrat, supports the gay marriage bill but has not allowed a vote because he thinks it will be defeated.
"This is an issue that demands much more than a symbolic gesture," Smith spokesman Austin Shafran said.
Josh Meltzer, a spokesman for the Empire State Pride Agenda, said the organization is proud to have Paterson's support."
More DFW
"In this fascinating interview, Jeremiah Kipp speaks with former Premiere editor Glenn Kenny about what it was like to edit DFW's 25,000-word pieces into magazine length, as well as about the friendship the two struck up over the course of their working relationship."

Made of Fail
"True, Spitzer failed miserably in his promise to cleanse Albany, demonstrating from Day One that he was incapable of making the alliances and associations necessary to win true reform.
But, again, his fundamental failure was in putting Paterson on the ballot."
NY Times Scholars
"One, a 20-year-old who immigrated from China with her parents in 2007 (but her parents returned, because it was too tough), makes $560/month and pays $550 in rent, leaving $10/month, 'which she spends carefully on large bags of rice, chicken leg quarters at 49 cents a pound, and whatever vegetables are cheapest.' Thanks to 'two free meals a day at school, a student MetroCard and the unexpected kind act— her English teacher, for instance, gave her $100,' she manages—and has a 93 average at her high school."
And suddenly, my problems, issues and dilemmas are put in perspective.
Shut Up, Brooklyn!
However, FAU being FAU, he does it in a way that is snark free, and makes everyone look a lot more rational than they are.
I, for one, love Gawker, but then again, I am divorced, single (with no prospects), bald and fat, while FAU is married with a wonderful family, and has a discernable waist and his hair.
Maybe I should emulate him more.
He's the President that grows!
"Hail to the Ch-Ch-Ch-Chief? A chia pet in President Obama's likeness is only the second chia pet to be based on a human (the other being Mr. T), but unlike its kitschy predecessor, this one has prompted some objections from those who think it's racist. Walgreens has now pulled the product from its shelves in Tampa and Chicago after receiving some complaints."
Yeah, I will admit that I want one. Is that horrible of me?
Lindsay Lohan Breakdown
"Us also quoted 'sources' saying Lohan has threatened to kill herself repeatedly over the past month in response to Ronson trying to extricate herself from the relationship. The magazine rushed its coverage onto the cover of Wednesday's issue, where it describes Lohan as 'Dumped, humiliated, broke & crying.'"
I do really feel for this woman, who has been exploited by everyone in her life and maybe...just maybe...wanted to be loved for who she is...
John & Kate + 8 meets The Bachelor
"Good news in dark times: You'll seen be able to take Nadya Suleman away from her 14 kids, on a date, to be filmed by reality show cameras and watched by a confused, frightened nation."
I want to be on this show.
1) I like crazy.
2) I am crazy.
3) The idea of having to interact with 14 children would send me over the edge.
Great Television!

Really Big Day
"The D.C. Council voted today to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states, on the same day that Vermont became the fourth state to legalize same-sex unions."
Robbing the Corpse
"A team of investigators, forensic accountants and lawyers found that Cobain's estate had been looted of more than $30 million cash and up to $500 million in real estate."
Via Gothamist
I feel for Francis Bean, I really do.
Argh
"New York and California are still not ready to go there."
No, New York is ready to go there and has been for a while. California, clearly, is not, however, there is less Mormon money in New York politics.
The issue with New York is that Malcolm Smith cannot control his conference.
The Assembly wants to do this.
The Governor (who is wrong on almost everything) wants to do this.
The Senate Majority leader cannot make it work. Just like he could get the budget passed on time, and just like the Senate is going to return to Republican control in another twenty months because he is a REALLY AWFUL LEADER!
Where is New York, Malcolm?
"It's now the fourth state to permit same-sex marriage. Massachusetts, Connecticut and Iowa are the others. Their approval of gay marriage came from the courts."
For FAU
"You want to protect your updates. If people have to ask permission to see what you're posting on Twitter, you're defeating the purpose, which is conversation."
Notes from a dog
"I know this is going to come across a bit harsh, but I want to get straight to the point. Speaking on behalf of myself and all other completely nonhuman members of my species, I must insist that the practice of anthropomorphizing us stops right now."
I do wonder what the cat would say.
What is he talking about?
"Today, many psychologists, cognitive scientists and even philosophers embrace a different view of morality. In this view, moral thinking is more like aesthetics. As we look around the world, we are constantly evaluating what we see. Seeing and evaluating are not two separate processes. They are linked and basically simultaneous."
I really don't know what he is trying to say here and that bothers me, because I think he is trying to make a valid point, however, this is such an unreadable mess that the message is lost in the noise.
That seems a little harsh.
"“Meh” was added to the dictionary this year, meaning “mediocre” or “boring.” I tend to use this word a lot when I review things, so I figured that I should fully define the term at some point. And Modest Mouse’s latest, “Satellite Skin,” gives me the perfect opportunity."

Technically, what we are doing is brain damage.
"Researchers at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center say they've prompted rodents to forget painful memories by injecting them with a drug called ZIP, which interferes with a neural substance integral memory functions. So it's only a matter of time before you'll be able to pop a pill and forget all about that photo of the Chinese guy's tumors or Lindsay Lohan's awkward appearance with Lily Allen!"
One of my favorite movies is coming closer to being true.
Where is New York?
"New England remains the nucleus of the same-sex marriage movement, with a campaign under way to extend marriage rights to gay men and lesbians in all six of the region’s states by 2012."
What Is a Man?
"A man is good at his job. Not his work, not his avocation, not his hobby. Not his career. His job. It doesn't matter what his job is, because if a man doesn't like his job, he gets a new one."
For those of us who are still boys, and those of us who have boys that we would like to be men.
Hrm.
"Gov. David Paterson’s job approval rating is at 28 percent, with 60 percent disapproving — the lowest approval ever for a New York governor, according to the latest Quinnipiac Poll released today."
The questions I have are not about those who disapprove, but those who approve?
Who, in all honesty, would believe that this man is doing a good job?
A little bit of color in a dark world
I may be working on three and a half hours work of sleep (insomnia for the win).
It could be that I am really unsure of my place in the world right now.
However...
The above flowers made me so happy this morning because yesterday, they were just green stalks.

Even though we are...
Fire!
FIRE!
And yes, for everything else, I am still a boy. :-)
