Something More About Haiti

A number of places are raising red flags regarding the Yele Haiti Charity...

(Gawker, WCBS)

Please read the articles.

They are not saying that it is a scam, not in the least, just that there may be better organizations for you to send your money...places like the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, Partners in Health, or OxFam.

The Brights have also published a list of charities that have little or no religious affiliation (as that is an issue for me).

Recorded Two Weeks Ago

And in light of the Haiti thing, it seems like such awful whining about the little things, however, as you may know by now, so much of my life is whining about the little things.

Zero

I have no patience tonight.

Not for people in general, and not for idiots.

To the woman at happy hour that I yelled at for insisting that "China Girl" was by Billy Idol, I apologize....semi-sincerely.

I probably should have just stayed home. At least there, I know that the dog and the cat like me....

And a shoutout to @paigethesage

Favorite line.

"I want to be like Steve Nash; Come down from Canada, do my best, and make the black guy look good."

Helping Haiti in Albany

Outside of the Rite Aid on North Pearl Street in Albany, members of "A Village" have set up a donation center to help with the Haitian Earthquake Relief Project.

"A Village" is the brainchild of Willie White, who sees it as a grassroots organization in Albany. "A Village" was started this past August and they are working on getting the Not-For-Profit status.

If you want to help, or have any questions, Mr. White is available at avillage5@aol.com

These are wonderful

My two favorite iPhone app advertisements.

Classically awful.

And...

How many people who are playing a Scrabble analogue on their phone are really going to buy into this?

Someone in Baltimore...loves me?

Why would anyone put me on this list?

Thank you, whomever you are, in 21233.

I am glad you are praying for me.

Hah! Wonderful!

Chris Hayes on TRMS:

The only thing that qualifies Liz Cheney to speak about (terrorism) is that she is the daughter of a war criminal.

Edit at 11:50 EDT:

Here is the correct quote...

Stuff

A) Harry Reid should resign. Not because he said anything that was untrue but because he is an asshole and bad for the country.

B) I am thrilled that Fox has signed Sarah Palin. Think about the awesome that she is going to bring on a regular basis.

C) If the Prop 8 Case's Defense relies on protecting the children from "something", California is going to be a SSM state very soon.

D) David Paterson may be crazy like a fox.

Where Should We Go Next?

I may have blogged about this before but with so many people recently getting iPhones or the Touch, I figured I would blog about this again...

The Urban Daddy iPhone App

Oh, he's my best friend

Yesterday and this morning, he has been so great. It has been wonderful.

Those of you who have never had a dog, won't get it...but...

I am so glad to have him in my life.

And it finally happened

My subconscious rose up and bit my on the ass...

In this dream, my family finally confronted me for being such a loser. It was awful.

All Songs Considered

While I am futzing around the house today, I am catching up on podcasts.

The listner picks one has some of the most amazing music I have heard in a long time.

You can download it from iTunes here.

Randomness

It was nice to know that I was missed in NYC last night, courtesy of a wonderful picture from the Notorious LUX.

While my travelling schedule was limited, I did head down to my livingroom to meet up with my housemate for a little bit before she headed off to a party and watched the Jets take down the Bengals. (FTR, Doug, I am not jumping on a bandwagon, as my brother and father are both huge Jets fans.) Maybe during the game I started the J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets! chant as well as the O-H-I-Blow chant...maybe...

While I was there, I ran into some friends, who had another friend with them and the strangest thing happened...

She called me gorgeous.

The last time a woman called me gorgeous without having an ulterior motive was when I was 16. That was 19 years ago.

So...in order to temper this, I went home and watched "The Ice Storm"...because anything nice needs to be tempered with ennui.

Anyway, this morning, while walking the dog, I made several mistakes.

A) While I had gloves, I did not wear them.

B) I touched the wrought iron gate with my bare hand.

Why is this stupid?

Because it is 9 F outside right now.

Curly had icicles coming off his muzzle.

Today is going to be spent working on a cover letter for a job that I do really want, catching up on some reading and, yes, doing some chores.
