This is my blog. I speak for no one but myself here. The words I write, the images I post, and the articles I link to interest no one but me. I stand by what I put here, however, it is not a reflection of time, effort, or particular care. I just want a clearinghouse of what does interest me and a space to spout out poorly written and thoughtout rants. Consider this a disclaimer.

So...now we have to wait for a new set of techs to determine where this fraking problem is and I still get time out errors when trying to use Siri.
— Edward “Ned” Abbott (@ewabbott) March 12, 2018
But no, the problem is not in our house. It is not with my network. It is not even from the tap to the house. It is a larger infrastructure issue.
— Edward “Ned” Abbott (@ewabbott) March 12, 2018
Which I pointed out to a tech two weeks ago when I was seeing issues between my house and the headend for my provider.
Cory, the tech who came out tested the signal. Then he ran a new drop. Then he tested on his own tester. Then he tested on his own modem. Then we ran power to the tap, and he plugged in his modem there. Then he even changed his patch cable, just to be sure.

However, our download numbers were problematic and the upload had not increased.
— Edward “Ned” Abbott (@ewabbott) March 12, 2018
So we scheduled another call for today.
First guy came out, said you have a problem, called a maintenance tech to fix the issue at the tap. Then the 2nd tech come out, replaced the faceplate at the tap and said everything looked okay.

For two weeks I have been complaining about a network latency issue with my provider.
— Edward “Ned” Abbott (@ewabbott) March 12, 2018
Last week, when our uploads had dropped to .25 mbps, and weren’t bouncing back, we scheduled a trouble call.
Remove Ready Player One, because it is neither good as a novel nor as a piece of nostalgia, and add Neuromancer because it has my favorite opening line in literature, "The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel." https://t.co/MgJhVSVsb1

I loved The Southern Reach Trilogy. Scenes from those books stay with me.
