This is my blog. I speak for no one but myself here. The words I write, the images I post, and the articles I link to interest no one but me. I stand by what I put here, however, it is not a reflection of time, effort, or particular care. I just want a clearinghouse of what does interest me and a space to spout out poorly written and thoughtout rants. Consider this a disclaimer.

The Great Beer Walk 2010
Here is the idea:
Beer + Long Walk = Tremendously Good Time
(FTR, this idea was prompted by SandorS)
Thursday, June 17th, we meet at Wolff's Biergarten (895 Broadway) at 5:30. We enjoy the beverage of our choice and move on to...
The Pearl Street Pub (1 Stuben Place) (which according to Google Maps is 0.8 miles) where we have another tasty beverage after which will we head to...
The Hill Street Cafe (180 Madison Ave, and which is 0.6 miles) for another tasty beverage and then on to...
The Lionheart (448 Madison Ave, another 0.6 miles) for some more tasty beverages...which will lead us to...
The Washington Tavern (250 Western Ave and 1 mile) for another tasty beverage which leads us to our last stop...
Mahar's (1110 Madison Ave and 0.8 miles) for the last of the evening.
At the end of the night, you will have been exposed to some wonderful beers, some great people and you will have walked 3.8 miles.
Is anyone up for it?

I believe I am in!
ReplyDeleteI like it!!! Count me in!
ReplyDelete@Sandor I would expect nothing less of you!
ReplyDelete@Jamie Very cool!
No Pumpstation?
ReplyDeleteThe Pump Station was mentioned and I am planning on including it on the next walk through Albany (probably mid-July) which will have a different theme.
ReplyDeleteIt was a choice that I made. I could start at Wolff's or there in order to keep the at least 1/2 mile rule between places.
Yes, you can tell me that I suck for it, but...I already know that.
Well Mr. Ned Flanders. I think this is a Fantastic idea, Especially the part where The Hillstreet fits in. I have already discussed it with a bunch of people, who are equally interested...Although I think perhaps it should be a circle of bars so you end back up where your car is ( not that I condone drunk driving...it is a terrible idea) and Thursday is Alive at five so traffic will be a little crazy..But with the right amount of beer in me I am up for anything. I am very Excited. The perfect way to unwind after a terrible day at work.. Good people+Good Beer=Happy Jordan =)
ReplyDeleteHi Jordan.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments.
This was set up as a walking tour that is running uphill for a reason, and making it a circle of bars would have proven problematic. One of the reasons that Mahar's is the last stop is because it closes fairly early. (The other is because the Western Avenue bus runs every twenty minutes.)
As for Alive at Five, I chose this day as a counter programming event because I really don't want to see inbred hill people from the 'burbs and hollows wearing spandex, drinking too much, and dancing around to Greg Rolle as he sings "Black Magic Woman".
But maybe that is just me...
Hahaha.. I will make sure to find a Gregg Rolie look-a-like to sing "Black Magic Woman" the entire way Just for you, and Purposely invite all of my hill people friends, although they don't come to Albany because they are to busy blowing up fish, and making moonshine. I can tell already this is going to prove a very interesting evening. I cannot wait. lol. =)
ReplyDeleteFor those of us living without facebook, is there another way to sign up? Or even a need?
ReplyDeleteI know, its hard to believe anyone can survive without it.
Jenny, I was using Facebook so I could get a reasonable count of people who are planning on being there...mostly so that I can alert the bar owners them week of the even that there may be 40+ people coming in to invade their bars.
ReplyDeleteIf you are in, you can leave a comment here.
If I may ask, what brought this to your attention?
An uncontrolled addiction for all things food, Albany, and Google Reader.
ReplyDeleteI caught your post on Table Hopping. Or rather, Google caught it and sent it my way.
I really need to thank Steve and Kristi for the amount of interest that their posts generated.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to walking and drinking with you!
is there a charge or do we just pay at each place?
ReplyDeleteBrennie, you just pay as you go.
ReplyDeleteI found you on Steve Barnes' Table Hopping and since I'm on Facebook I found the event; I'm slamming it like crazy, I see many of my FB friends are at least a "maybe" so that is cool. I can't wait. I can help drive the "handicapped" if you need!
ReplyDeleteThanks CountryChicken!
ReplyDeleteBy driving, do you mean during the event or afterwards?
Both, if you need me to.
ReplyDeleteI would prefer if those who wanted to do a walk actually walk between the venues.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the night, I would love someone to step up.
I would like to exchange links with your site www.blogger.com
ReplyDeleteIs this possible?
