The Nalle Rescue is one of the great stories related to the shameful history of chattel slavery in the United States. The people acted, both legally & en masse, to prevent a return to bondage. It is stories like this that make crap like the Lost Cause narrative and ahistorical revisionism about the Civil War so abhorrent.
