Update on The Terrible Mistake

Yesterday, TEA and I were supposed to go to the movies to see The Phantom Menace in 3D.

When were arrived at the multiplex, and were queued up in front of the ticket dispenser (I prefer them when I can, but then again, I prefer small locally owned theaters.), TEA asked could we see a different film. I was elated.

TEA's suggestion: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

In as few words as possible, here is a description of the film...

Troubled child gets a message, Stepfather bonds with a trip to Palau, hilarity and terror ensue, the find grandfather, they escape the island.

That being said, the Rock is fun to watch. He does not have much range but he is fun. Michael Caine delivers yet another performance by mail, and Vanessa Hudgens is really cute (and thankfully, 23).

Some of the 3D effects were worth it and...the most important thing...is that TEA loved it.

Get Andy Zaltzman on Doctor Who

I have mentioned my love of The Bugle Podcast before.

Every week, the esteemed Andy Zaltzman will run off a series of puns about something. This week, Zaltzman decided to run off a series of puns about Charles Dickens (in a dubious celebration of the two hundredth centennial of the author's birth) and it was painful. Horribly painful.

So painful that Mr. Zaltzman needs to be hit with a stick by Mr. Dickens.

Here is my suggestion: Mr. Zaltzman should have a minor role on Doctor Who where the current Doctor (Matt Smith) drags him back to 1869 so that Andy can be hit with a stick by Mr. Dickens.

The Doctor has met Dickens before (see below), so this is old hat, and I am sure that Mr. Zaltzman would love the publicity...it's not The Smurfs (wow...The Smurfs has a wiki. Who knew?) but it is something. Plus as the new series is currently filming, time can be taken to make this work. Justice must be served.

I've made a terrible mistake...

No, we are not talking about my personal life, though I could and you would laugh, at me...not with me.

No, what I have done is that I have promised to take TEA to see the re-release of The Phantom Menace (3D). TEA is going to love it.

Me, not so much.

Wednesday

• Three states were covered in a Santorum explosion last night. Mitt and Newt were not surprised by this. They have experienced Santorum before. For Ron Paul supporters, this was their first taste of Santorum, and they did not like it.

• Rachel Maddow wearing Eli Manning's #10 jersey as the result of a lost bet was wonderful. I love Rachel and forgive her the foible of rooting for the Patriots. Maybe this will cause her to change affiliation. (Yes, pun intended.)

• Re: "New Girl" Two things: 1) I now know that Schmidt and I wear the same boxers. 2) (after seeing a pistol) Jess: "Oh my god! It's like The Wire."

• Concerned about the "War on Contraception"? Easy answer. Choose sterilization. Despise family planning? Don't have a family.

• I reread "The Big Short" last weekend and I am embarrassed about how little I understood about these financial instruments. I am only placated by the fact that the people who were supposed to understand them failed to realize their implications.

• I burned my tongue last night. It makes not eating easier. If it was something tasty, it would have been worth it...sadly. It was not.

Not to be a richard but...

• Pointing out that a number of the commercials during the Super Bowl™ were heterocenterist or patriarchal does not make you an observant media consumer or someone who speaks "truth to power". It makes you a scold and more easily allows me to dismiss you. Bonus points if you are quoting Mother Jones or Utne while making your argument.

• Doctor > Downton

• Pats Nation has taken the Super Bowl™ loss well for the most part and I applaud them for that but some of you need to stop.

• I am over James Franco.

• Pitchers & catchers in less than two weeks. The Mets could play .500 ball this year and still finish fifth.

• It is Tuesday, which means Manic Pixie Dream Girl tonight...

• I really like RunKeeper as an app the iPhone for measuring distance and mph.
